Saving images in specific formats Photoshop Elements can save images to various file formats. (See About file formats.) While you're developing an image, you should always save your work in Photoshop (PSD) format. This practice ensures that all of the image data is saved. When you're finished developing an image, you can save it in an alternate format. The format you choose depends on how you plan to use the image. To save an image in one of the following formats, choose File > Save As, and choose the format from the Format pop-up menu. After you click Save, additional options may appear.
